American Airlines announced that it expanded its relationship with Qatar Airways to offer reciprocal frequent flyer program benefits.
American Airlines AAdvantage members will be able to earn and redeem miles on flights operated by Qatar Airways. In addition, members of Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club will be able to earn and redeem miles on American Airlines-operated flights.
The new benefits are in addition to the agreement the two airlines have in place, under which the two carriers codeshare on 170 routes throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S.
Qatar Airways announced earlier this month that it will join oneworld alliance on October 30. The carrier will be the first of the three major airlines in the Gulf region to join a global airline alliance.

Set at the foot of Mount Entoto, 2,300 metres above sea level, Addis Ababa is often referred to as the ‘capital of Africa’ because of its historical, diplomatic and political significance. With its wealth of palaces, cathedrals and mosques, as well as Africa’s largest open market, the city is an ideal starting point for the exploration of Ethiopia’s rich and ancient culture. Home to over 2.7 million people, the city is also an important business hub for Ethiopians and hosts the headquarters of the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
