Order HereEtihad Airways has struck a deal to acquire Abu Dhabi Airport Services, Abu Dhabi Cargo Co. and Abu Dhabi In-Flight Catering.
The three companies, which employ 4,000 staff, are part of Abu Dhabi Airports Co. (ADAC). Following the acquisition, the companies will be incorporated into wholly owned Etihad Airways subsidiary Etihad Airport Services.
Etihad CEO James Hogan said the transaction is “critical to the continued growth of the airline” and to meeting Abu Dhabi’s aviation growth plans.
The three businesses are expected to deliver additional revenues, cost savings and operational efficiencies. Etihad said it also plans to “accelerate and consolidate” the development of catering, ground handling and cargo operations at Abu Dhabi. The companies will continue to provide services to Etihad and third-party carriers.
The deal has been finalized and is now subject to regulatory approval.
Earlier this month, Etihad also signed a deal to acquire a stake in Indian carrier Jet Airways.
