The codeshare agreement—JetBlue’s 13th—expands an interline partnership between the two airlines that has been in place since 2013. Ft. Lauderdale-based Silver is a regional carrier operating 27 34-seat Saab 340Bplus turboprops under its own brand. It is largely focused on intra-Florida flights and service between Florida and the Bahamas.
New York JFK-based JetBlue said entering into a codeshare accord with Silver will enable it to expand its Florida network by allowing its passengers to connect to secondary Florida destinations such as Gainesville, Key West, Pensacola and Tallahassee. Later this year, JetBlue plans to add its code to 13 routes Silver operates to the Bahamas, subject to regulatory approval.
Silver also has a codeshare agreement with United Airlines. Silver CEO Sami Teittinen said in a statement, “The new JetBlue codeshare agreement is a perfect example of how Silver Airways continues to strategically develop airline partnerships that synergistically complement its partner airlines’ networks.”[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
