Munoz, who became United CEO’s last month following thesudden departure of former chairman, president and CEO Jeff Smisek, was hospitalized on Friday. Although United has not given further details about his condition, The Wall Street Journal has reported Munoz suffered a heart attack Oct. 15.
In Monday’s statement, non-executive board chairman Henry Meyer said, “The company expects to release more details either later today or tomorrow. In the meantime, the United family’s thoughts and well wishes are with Oscar.”
